An Extraordinary Journey to Clonakilty Distillery

Last week, we had the privilege of embarking on an extraordinary journey with our clients, welcoming attendees from London, Manchester, and Glasgow to the ruggedly beautiful Irish coastline. Our destination was the iconic Clonakilty Distillery in County Cork, where tradition and innovation blend to create some of the finest spirits Ireland has to offer.

The Art and Craft of Whiskey-Making

This wasn’t just a tour, it was an opportunity to step into the soul of whiskey-making. We explored the meticulous craft behind Clonakilty’s exceptional spirits, learning how the Wild Atlantic Way shapes their flavours and how time-honoured distilling techniques are preserved and perfected. It was a fascinating insight into the dedication, skill, and artistry that define every drop of Clonakilty whiskey.

More Than Just an Investment

At Caskcap, we understand that whiskey cask investment is about so much more than numbers. Each cask tells a story, a legacy of passion, tradition, and craft. That’s why we host experiences like this one: to offer our clients a deeper connection to the industry, an insider’s view of its intricate processes, and an appreciation for the dedication that makes Irish whiskey so exceptional.

Equally as important as the whiskey were the connections we forged. Bringing together a group of like-minded individuals to share this journey reminded us of the power of shared experiences. We raised a glass not just to remarkable whiskey but to the relationships that make ventures like these meaningful and memorable.

If you missed this trip, don’t worry, our next adventure is already in the works! In 2025, we’ll be hosting more all-expenses-paid tours, giving clients and those interested in our work the chance to explore the magic of Irish whiskey-making first hand.

Stay tuned for updates on how you can join us next time. Until then, here’s to celebrating exceptional whiskey, unforgettable stories, and the connections that bring us together.

Investment Risks

  1. Price Fluctuation: The value of cask whiskey can rise or fall. Market performance is not guaranteed, and investors should be aware of the speculative nature of this asset class.
  2. Past Performance: Past performance is not an indicator of future results. Any projections or estimates provided are illustrative only and may not be achieved.
  3. Evaporation ("Angel’s Share"): Whiskey stored in casks naturally evaporates over time. An average annual loss of 2% in volume and alcoholic strength is expected under normal warehouse conditions.
  4. Costs & Fees: Additional costs may apply, including but not limited to warehouse storage, insurance, regauging, sampling, and bottling fees. Please speak to us for further details.
  5. Tax Considerations: If you choose to bottle your whiskey, duty and VAT will be payable before the whiskey is removed from an HMRC-licensed warehouse. It is the cask owner's responsibility to ensure compliance with tax obligations.

Cask Management

  • Regular cask health checks are recommended every three years to monitor liquid levels and condition. Services such as regauging, sampling, and photography are available at an additional cost.
